Saturday – Smashing, Hiking and Eating

Saturday. A good day. The weekend. A good day for a little fender bender. 🙂
Firda and I were on our way to the Rockwood Provincial Park which in between Guelph and Acton. During the drive to Guelph we had a little incident. My car was back-ended at a stop light. There were 4 or 5 cars in front of me and the traffic lights turned red. Someone in front stopped there car pretty quickly so everyone else has to stop pretty quickly. The car behind me came barreling down on me. I noticed this and started pulling off to the right side of the road. Unluckily I didn’t make it quite far enough over and the back left side of my car got hit, which did a little bit of cosmetic damage – the bumper is dented and the turning/brake light plastic cover broke. Even though it appears to be very little damage it will probably still cost 1000+ dollars to fix. I believe my insurance should cover it, and hopefully not increase my premium. Stupid no-fault insurance.
The other guy had a little more damage then I did but both of our cars were drivable so after getting some advice from a tow truck driver, who happened to be a couple of cars behind at the time, we headed off to the police station to report the accident. After 30 to 45 minutes we finished all the legal stuff and Firda and I were back on the road.
Rockwood Provincial Park is a great place to spend the day. We spent a little more than 3 hours walking around, taking pictures and just spending time in the sun and together. I know Firda will be posing pictures on her flickr account at some point soon.
Speaking of spending time together. Firda was originally going to head home on Sunday but we’ve applied for an extension of her visa. Wish us luck. 🙂
