Art Show
I am monmentarily heading to my parents place for the weekend. Two friends of mine have an art show exhibit opening back home. Should be interesting. Here is a painting by one of the featured artists. I actually have one of his paintings as well called "Monkey Boy Goes To The Moon" which I will post when I get back.
Have a good weekend and I will post more when I get back.
Lycos Top 50
When searching for anything on the internet I prefer to use Google but in my internet travels today I stumbled across the Lycos Top 50 which I think is a neat idea. It gives you a snapshot of what's hot at the time and you can search the archives for anything you want.
Brotherhood of the Wolf
Last night I went out with a couple of friends to see "Brotherhood of the Wolf". The movie is set in France about 50 or 60 years before the French Revolution. The story is centered on Grégoire de Fronsac , a botanist/biologist who fought the English in New France (Quebec), and his Iroquois partner Mani. Fronsac is called upon to investigate the killing of pheasants by a mysterious beast in a rural area of France. During his investigation he meets two women who he will have to depend on to survive, one being an aristocrat and the other an enigmatic prostitute. I won't give away any more of the plot because you really should see it.
As for what genre this film falls into. If you look at the Internet Movie Database entry for this movie it categorises it as an Action-Horror-Fantasy-Thriller. While it is all four I think that Jeffery M. Anderson, a movie reviewer for the San Francisco Examiner, says it best "You could pretty much sell BROTHERHOOD OF THE WOLF on its genre alone. It's a French-language, period piece, kung-fu monster flick. Take that lineup to even the most jaded moviegoer and he'll have to say, 'Nope. Never seen that before."
A french-language, period piece, kung-fu, monster flick. :) That about sums it up.
