McSweeney's #4 Found

Wednesday  •  10:14 PM  •  4 comments

After much searching and bidding I finally got my hands on a copy of McSweeney's Quarterly #4. I'm so very very happy that I finally bought it. I did end up paying a fair amount of money for it (since it's way out of print) but now I have all of them! Now I just have to sit down and read them all. I'm about half way through #2 right now. They are good reads. If you are interesting in McSweeney's you can buy issue #10 through Amazon for a reasonable price. There are a lot of well known authors in this issue (including Stephen King, Neil Gaiman, Elmore Leonard and Nick Hornby). Pick it up! You won't be disappointed!

The Alphabet of You

I found this meme at fury.com called "the alphabet of you" and since I'm bored and don't really have much to say I thought I would give it a try.

A - Act your age? I'm 27. I think. Yup I am. Somedays I act like I'm 27 but you know how guys are. Most of the time we are immature idiots. I'm no exception :)
B - Born on what day of the week? Looks like I was born on a Saturday. Makes sense. I like the weekends and I like sleeping in.
C - Chore you hate? I don't like doing my laundry if I have to go out of the house (to a laundrymat to do them). I don't like getting my hair cut. It seems like a waste of my time, though it always feels nice to have shorter hair. Sometimes the fact that I have to eat a couple times a day annoys me as well.
D - Dad's name? Eric
E - Essential makeup item? Makeup? No thank you (unless I'm going to a crossdressing party) :)
E - Essential item of luggage when travelling? Digital camera, a couple of books and someone to share the experience with.
F - Favorite actor? I don't know if I have a favorite. It changes from time to time if I do.
G - Gold or silver? Silver.
H - Hometown? I was born in Cambridge, Ontario - grew up in Wilsonville, Ontario - now live in Waterloo, Ontario.
I - Instruments you play? Nothing at all. I tried the ukulele, and trumpet at various points during my public school career to no avail.
J - Job title? Research Engineer (though I'm basically a glorified grad student)
K - Kids? Nope.
L - Living arrangements? I share a house with three other guys. One of them being my brother. I moved in to the place in December and we are all moving out in June (I believe). I really should start looking for a place.
M - Mum's name? Bonnie
N - Number of people you've slept with? If you mean actually slept in the same bed with it would be countless. As for the other meaning I plead the fifth (yes I realize Canada doesn't have a fifth but you get the idea).
O - Overnight hospital stays? None as of yet. Unless you count when I was born.
P - Phobia? Swimming alone in water when I can't see the bottom.
P - Paracetamol, Ibuprofen or Aspirin? Aspirin. Just because.
Q - Quote you like? "Your gay! And by gay I mean happy and by happy I mean HOMOSEXUAL!" (I apologize to all homosexuals but you had to be there - it was really pretty funny).
R - Religious affiliation? I was brought up in the United Church of Canada (which I am thankful for). Right now I am an unaffiliated heathen :)
S - Siblings? One younger brother.
T - Time you wake up? Lately I've been getting up at around 9:30 so I can get to work/school by 10:00. Sometimes it works out that way, sometimes it doesn't.
U - Unique habit? I don't know if I have a unique habit. I have this ability to watch two episodes of any TV show and know the basic plot and premise of the storylines going on at the time. I also know a lot of useless information which is helpful when watching Jeopardy but not that useful in real life (though I know a lot of people have that ability).
V - Vegetable you refuse to eat? Cucumber. It tastes like old water.
W - Worst habit? Biting my fingernails. To name one.
X - X-rays you've had? Dental X-Rays of course. I'm not sure how many I had taken of my leg when I broke that (I was 7 at the time so I don't remember but I don't think it was that many). And I think I was above 12 in a month when I broke my wrist. They just kept taking them and taking them. I wonder what my radiation level was after that little incident.
Y - Yummy food you make? I can make a pretty good Apple Crisp. Mmmmm. If our oven wasn't on the fritz I would make some tonight!
Z - Zodiac Sign? Sagittarius

Why don't you fill it out and leave a comment so I can check out yours?
