Monday Five - April 14, 2003

I wasn't going to do a Friday Five until I read the topic and since I'm a music free I thought I might as well do it:

1. What was the first band you saw in concert?

I think the first concert I went to was a Forgotten Rebels show in Hamilton Ontario at a crappy little Sports Bar (which is a weird place for them to play). The Forgotten Rebels are this punk band from Hamilton. I use to like them but now I just find them funny.

2. Who is your favorite artist/band now?

No favorites. I have too many CDs and listen to too many bands to try and pick favorites from.

3. What's your favorite song?

At the moment I love "You Were Right" by Badly Drawn Boy. Though this will probably change in a couple of days. Last week it was about half of the songs off of the first disc of the Magnetic Fields "69 Love Songs" album. (Note of interest: I just realized that Lemony Snicket plays accordion and occasional keyboard on a couple of songs on the 69 Love Songs album - cool).

4. If you could play any instrument, what would it be?

I'd like to know how to play the piano. I think the piano is one of the few instruments that sounds amazing either solo or as accompaniment. It is also very easy to hear the emotion of the pianist when they play.

5. If you could meet any musical icon (past or present), who would it be and why?

Interesting question. I think I would like to meet Louis Armstrong. Don't really know why. I think he would have some interesting views on the world and from everything I've heard of him he just seemed like a cheerful, warm person.

Hi Everybody!

I was meaning to post something about being away this weekend on Friday but Friday was a super busy day at school/work so I didn't have anytime. I went home for the weekend and that would explain the total absence of posts. Not that weekend posting is all that common for me. I just thought I would be kind enough to let you know that I wasn't going to be around.

It was a good weekend. Did a lot of relaxing. Just hanging out with people and trying to take it easy. Sunday was my grandparents 25th wedding anniversary. Yes only 25th. It's a second marriage for both of them (since they are both widowers). Lots of food was consumed that day. It was almost like Christmas in April (sans Turkey).

Back to the grind. Later skaters!
