The Gay Marriage Debate Rages On

Even though I'm not a religious person (in the traditional institutionalized sense of the word) I am thankful that my parents raised me in the United Church of Canada. Especially when an article about the debate surrounding gay marriages in Canada states "The United Church of Canada ... believes that extending marriage rights to gays and lesbians is a victory for human dignity". When you contrast this with comments by the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (which said "Because it [the definition of marriage] pre-exists the state and because it is fundamental for society, the institution of marriage cannot be modified, whether by the Charter of Rights, the state or a court of law.") you can tell which of the religions I would choose to support (being the bleeding-heart Liberal I am) :)

I guess the Supreme Court of Canada hearings surrounding this issue will proceed tomorrow. I don't see how the Supreme Court could do anything but accept gay-marriages (especially considering more than half of the provinces allow them). I guess we will see in a couple of days.

NOTE: Any inappropriate comments will be deleted. Especially those made by intolerant bigoted jerks. Thank you.

The things I hate the most about my job...

You want to know the thing that I hate most about my job. When you call or email someone requesting information and they don't get back to you. What ever happened to sending a nice little email saying "We don't have that information ready yet. We will get it to you in a week or so. I'll let you know". A little courtesy is always a nice thing.

The biggest problem that comes from this is when the clients are jumping around wondering where their final report is and we can't finish it because we are missing the requested information who do you think the finger will be pointed at?

By the way this isn't about my co-workers. We all sit within shouting distance of each other and communication isn't much of a problem.

I might never be the kind of person who....

An interesting little meme stolen from Robot Johnny who stole it from Pony. (As a sidenote I've been working on this meme for the past two to three weeks - not every day but it's taken a while).

I might never be the kind of person who…

... can jump right out of bed and be immediately awake.
... would backstab a friend or loved one for purposes of greed.
... could go out and get drunk every night of the week or even two nights in a row.
... who will enjoy the taste of coffee when it is in liquid form (since I do like Coffee Crisp chocolate bars).
... has the ability to transfer thoughts from his short term to long term memory quickly (thus leading to my short-term forgetfulness).
... enjoys shopping for clothing.
... doesn't embarrass his offsprings (if and when I have them).
... feels that his brain is properly wired.
... makes sense 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
... isn't able to find something to laugh or smile at.
... is outgoing and extroverted when dealing with strangers.
... blogs daily.
... can pass up a cheap book and/or CD and/or DVD (unless I really don't want to read/listen to/view it or know it sucks)
... will understand the process by which you make "sound financial investments".
... will fall asleep during a movie (unless I've stayed up for more than 20 hours in a row).
... understands the opposite sex.
... believes that religion is good for society (it can be good for the individual but tends to be bad for society in general - don't get me started).
... would be able to swim in a lake, the ocean, a river etc. and not be concerned with what is lurking below me (a slight phobia I have).
... would give up TV unless I was offered a couple of million dollars and even then it would be hard.
... will understand how some people can be so intolerant (or be hateful) of others just because of their race, gender, sexual preference etc.
... would vote for the Conservative party (in Canada) or the Republicans (in the US - even though I can't vote in the US).
... would want to move far away from my friends and family for an extended amount of time.
... will be a sports fan or understand sport fanatics.
... thinks eating lots and lots of chocolate is a bad thing.
... can think of any more information to put into this meme.
