The CBC is Back
The CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation) strike that I mentioned a little while ago is finally over with. I listened to my first regular CBC news show this afternoon on the way home from work.
I missed you CBC!!!
Happy Post Canadian Turkey Day
Canadian Thanksgiving has come and gone for another year and I'm already missing the turkey! As you can surmise this past weekend was Thanksgiving, at least for those of us north of the U.S. border. For me Thanksgiving is a time to get together with family and friends, eat turkey, and go to the Norfolk County Fair.
Firda and I went down to my parents place Friday night to spend the weekend in my homelands. We got home, had Lasagna, played some cards, watched some TV, read a little and then went to bed. Saturday was spent at the fair (see Firda's pictures from the fair). We arrived at noon so we could watch a little bit of the Llama judging, then grabbed something to eat (pogos, french fries and hot chocolate), then met up with a bunch of friends (including SMooSH and Loba) and hung out for another 2 hours. Firda was pretty tired after hanging out at the fair for 5 hours. We headed back to my parents place to relax. I read. Firda took a wee nap. We then went out for dinner with our friend Caiti. Caiti had a nice salad, I had the chicken caeser salad amd Firda had some kind of rice dish (I don’t recall exactly what it was). After that Caiti headed over to Tim Hortons to hang out with the mothers and expectant mothers. Firda and I stopped in to say “hi” but left soon after, since there were too many mothers there. :) We headed home, watched a weird Canadian movie called “The Saddest Music in the World” featuring Isabella Rossilini and Mark McKinney, then a little more reading and off to bed.
Sunday was TURKEY DAY! We went out for brunch with a couple friends. We then ran into Brantford to check out the Value Village thrift shop, where we picked up a couple of books. We had a fantastic thanksgiving dinner and then hung out at home until Caiti called and we went back into Simcoe to hang out for a couple of hours.
Monday was the real Thanksgiving day. We did nothing much. Watched TV, played cards, played Trivial Pursuit, came back up to Waterloo, watched some more TV and then off to bed.
So that is my post. It isn’t much of a post, but it’s a post nonetheless. I’m sorry :)
