Today

Today was the day. It was Firda's permanent residency interview, which seemed to be a formality. What does this mean? Firda has almost all of the rights and privileges of any other Canadian - meaning she can work, pay Canadian taxes, get free health care. The only real difference is that she can't vote in a federal election and she may still need to get visas to travel.

The interview was pretty quick - we spent more time sitting in the waiting area than we did in the interview room.

It's a good day. Exciting but glad that it is over.
